🌔 Nikon Z 24 70 F2 8 Review
The Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens marks the first “serious” telephoto lens in Nikon’s still relatively new full-frame mirrorless system. Although there is also a 24-200mm “superzoom” lens, this one is more squarely aimed at professionals and high-end enthusiasts thanks to its superior design and maximum wide aperture (f/2.8).
The Nikon Z 24mm f/1.8 S is bigger, heaver and more expensive than any Nikon 24mm f/1.8, f/2 or f/2.8 lens ever, but that's because this new lens has higher performance with a far more complex optical design than any other Nikon 24mm f/1.8, f/2 or f/2.8 lens. This is an optical "statement" lens; it's not intended as a tiny pancake lens.
The 24-70 and 14-30 f4 Z were a strong draw to Z mount for me but ultimately I preferred the Sony & 3rd party primes on E mount, and the 17-28/2.8. I'm curious to see what Nikon will do with their 70-200/4, I hope we start seeing more extending 70-200s like the Tamron 70-180 and the Canon RFs.

The 5x zoom range of Nikon’s Z 24-120mm f4 S fits nicely between the 2.8x coverage of their 24-70mm zoom lenses and the 8.3x zoom of the Nikon Z 24-200mm f4-6.3 VR.
Roll on to Z mount were even a cheapo plastic mount collapsible 24-50 worth ÂŁ200 beats far more DSLR F2.8 24-70s than it ought to in many ways optically and the Tamron 28-75 RXD Mk1 at a crazy ÂŁ1000 in a Nikon shell isn`t looking too good .. this isn`t helped by that the Z 24-70 F4 is stellar with better colour, micro contrast , edge

The Z 28mm f2.8 has 9 elements in 8 groups, the Z 24mm f1.8 S is a 12/10 design, the Z 24-50mm f4-6.3 is 11/9. Only the Z 24mm f1.8 S has Nikon’s Nano-Coating to reduce flare, glare and ghosting. Minimum object distance / maximum magnification: In manual focus I was able to get down to 0.18m (0.6ft.) distance with a maximum magnification of 1
At 24mm focal length the lens focuses super fast in around 0.2 sec from infinity to 0.35m (1:10 magnification), while the AF-S 14-24mm f2.8G on a Z7 (via FTZ adapter) needs 0.5 sec. The zoom ring is located at the middle of the lens and turns through 70 degrees. It has a 19mm wide rubber surface with a good grip.

It's just a beginning of our tests of the Nikon Z system lenses based on the Nikon Z7 body; the RAW files, produced by that camera, were developped by neutral software such as dcraw. We have been able to check thoroughly optical properties of several fixed-focal instruments of this system so
However, on balance, the Nikon Z 70-180mm f/2.8 handles its tradeoffs well. It’s remarkably light and portable for an f/2.8 zoom, has very respectable image quality at every focal length, and costs about half the price of the 70-200mm f/2.8 S. The fast focusing speed and excellent close-focus capabilities are enough to cement it as a good
The Z 24-70mm f4.0 S is a bit better but the new zoom still should satisfy videographers. The Nikon 24-70mm f2.8E VR shows a 1.4% increase in magnification at 70mm focal length, while decreasing magnification by 2.6% at 24mm focal length.
